Daniel Liden

Product designer

Daniel Liden (He/Him) is a product designer with a deep passion for materials and sustainability. He is currently affiliated with Better Things, a creative consultancy dedicated to sustainable design, and Chris Lefteri Design, a materials-led design studio. With extensive experience in balancing sustainability requirements with valuable and durable product designs, With a deep interest in how we make, use and ultimately dispose of products, Daniel is convinced that there has never been a more exciting time to be a designer. Questioning why fundamentally irresponsible concepts around manufacturing and consumerism that date back to the industrial revolution are still so entrenched, Daniel’s work is critically re-evaluating the design process, from materials and manufacturing through to business models and use cases.

Daniel has been an independent consultant for global brands since 2016, following a decade of leading positions in corporate design studios in Europe and Asia. In early 2024, he published his first book, Better Things: Materials for Sustainable Product Design, which serves as a practical guide for designers navigating the complexities of materials and sustainability. This book consolidates his nearly twenty years of expertise in the field.
